Costa Teguise, a resort built for calm

Costa Teguise remains the quietest of Lanzarote's big accommodation areas. Developed from the 1970s and 80s onward, it has kept a more open layout than Puerto del Carmen, with wide avenues, low-rise residential complexes and few tall buildings.

The mood is noticeably more family-oriented and settled in the evening, without being short of restaurants or shops, particularly around the Pueblo Marinero, a small night market held once or twice a week in season.

Playa de las Cucharas: the windsurfing and kitesurfing spot

Playa de las Cucharas has long hosted windsurfing championship legs and remains a busy spot for riders, thanks to steady wind and conditions suited to intermediate levels. Several schools offer lessons and equipment hire right on the beach.

Families also make the most of Playa del Jablillo, more sheltered, plus the nearby water park (Aquapark) and golf course — two features that set Costa Teguise apart from the island's other resorts.

Where to stay in Costa Teguise

Several large hotels and aparthotels line the seafront, such as Barceló Teguise Beach or Beatriz Playa & Spa, often at gentler rates than their Playa Blanca equivalents. Apartments and residences with pools, a little further back, suit families and longer stays well.
